Let your spirit run wild amidst a host of autumnal delights! Fierce warriors may try their mettle upon the field of battle in martial activities including armored combat, rapier, and thrown weapons competitions, and archery! Heavy combat and rapier activities will be centered around Halloween themes, which will include a zombie battle and a Friday night torchlight tourney.

Heavy Combat

Night of the Hallow Ball – Heavy Fighting Event

Get ready for Night of the Hallow Ball, a fast-paced, small-team heavy melee competition where teamwork, strategy, and endurance determine the victor!

Team Composition

Each team consists of 5 fighters:

  • 2 Polearm Fighters (polearms, spears, or great swords)
  • 2 Sword-and-Shield Fighters
  • 1 Runner armed with a dagger no longer than 12 inches. Runners must wear full gauntlets.

Tournament Format

  • Double-elimination bracket
  • 10-minute matches
  • The team with the most points at the end of regulation wins.
  • Ties will be decided by sudden death.

Objective

Each team defends a goal located at opposite ends of the field. Teams score 1 point by successfully placing the “Pumpkin” into the opposing team’s goal.

Rules of Play

  • All blows, regardless of severity, count as a leg shot.
  • Fighters who are struck must immediately fight from their knees and may not move from that position.
  • Fighters may continue to engage opponents while kneeling.
  • After each goal is scored, all fighters reset to their starting positions.

Opening Face-Off

The match begins with a dagger duel between the two designated runners. The winner of the duel gains possession of the Pumpkin for the first scoring attempt.

After each successful goal:

  • Possession of the Pumpkin transfers to the opposing team.
  • The opposing team begins the next play from their own goal and advances toward the opposite end of the field.
